Males emit very complex vocalizations, especially on their breeding grounds. Their repertoire is made up of about 20 sound units, which they use to form sentences whose sequence forms a chorus. Their song is comparable to an evolving language. Each population has its own song, I like to compare it to a winter hit, picked up by the males with individual variations. These variations evolve during the season, the males “copying” from other males sound units or pieces of phrase which inspire them.

In the video, the lack of complexity of the song indicates that it is a young male.
